What are taligate assists in autos for?

  Last week my car had its standard annual inspection and I was left in a bit of shock afterward. It turns out that I need to change almost the entire undercarriage and taligate assists, which I can only buy from a certain technician, as I do not have a new car. How true can this be? What are taligate assists for in a car?

  Have you only seen one auto technician? I think you need to consult another technician here and compare their opinions. I was also once told a fabulous price for Taligate Assists, saying I would not find them anywhere for my Chevy, my friend advised me to go to T1A Auto store https://www.t1aauto.com/collections/tailgate-assists because they helped him find parts for his not so new Toyota. In the end, I purchased the Taligate Assists needed for the door struts at a reasonable price, and I have never had to deal with this technician again.
