  Does anyone have experience building custom dining tables? I'm thinking of making a 96" solid wood table but not sure what type of wood is best or what finish holds up best with kids. Any tips or pics would be appreciated!

  Hey, I’m actually looking to build a 96" solid wood dining table too, so I’m in the same boat! From what I’ve gathered, white oak is a great option for durability, and a hardwax oil finish like Rubio Monocoat holds up well to kid chaos while still looking natural.

  I built a 96" solid wood dining table myself and found that hard maple or white oak holds up great with kids—durable and takes a beating well. I used a satin polyurethane finish for easy cleanup.
