  • Does anyone have experience building custom dining tables? I'm thinking of making a 96" solid wood table but not sure what type of wood is best or what finish holds up best with kids. Any tips or pics would be appreciated!

  • Hey, I’m actually looking to build a 96" solid wood dining table too, so I’m in the same boat! From what I’ve gathered, white oak is a great option for durability, and a hardwax oil finish like Rubio Monocoat holds up well to kid chaos while still looking natural.

  • I built a 96" solid wood dining table myself and found that hard maple or white oak holds up great with kids—durable and takes a beating well. I used a satin polyurethane finish for easy cleanup.
