Every time I know I am going to drive in stressful conditions, I start feeling tense even before I get in the car. Bad weather, heavy traffic, or unfamiliar roads all make me anxious. The other day, I had to drive through a major storm, and I could feel my hands gripping the wheel too hard, my shoulders getting stiff, and my breathing getting shallow. By the time I got home, I was completely drained. I do not want driving to feel this exhausting every time there is a difficult situation on the road.
